Creative Garden & Board Games Workshop

Monday, February 28th, 2011

I noticed yesterday that the Snowdrops have just started to appear in the Garden. A lovely sign that spring is around the corner.

February has gone by like a flash for me.

On Saturday I was at a Creative Networking event called ‘Creative Garden” I met some new and familiar faces. It was well worth the visit as I got the opportunity to catch up with some old friends and make new contacts to help develop my business.

I helped with a Board Games workshop at the Quad which was great fun, it’s such a pleasure to help children and adults be creative…they have such lovely , imaginative and original ideas. It was great just to help to draw out Game boards with a pencil and a ruler. I can say that I was a little rusty as I take using illustrator And Indesign software for granted these days!

I attended  all  of the family  work shops which involved making imagery for the following stations:

Interactive Forest, Virtual Telescope, Animation X & Touch Screen  Arcade Machine. I had a wonderful time in the summer being involved in such a rewarding and creative  project. Please take a peek at some of the photos of the exhibition I took for my happy memory box! Can you spot some of my characters in a tree ?….Tweet Tweet!!

Quad Exhibition

Monday, October 19th, 2009

During the month of August, I was fortunate to be asked by the Quad to help with several digital family workshops

Interactive Forest, Virtual Telescopes, Animation X & Touch Screen Games, I really enjoyed every minutes of the workshops and gained lots of invaluable experience. Before I went on holiday to Devon  I was asked to do Photoshop work- cleaning up the photographs that had been taken of the families artwork, there was a lot of plastercine models which needed their  backgrounds made transparent-in technical terms!!

I was also given the opportunity to submit some of my own work to the final exhibition, which would mainly be used for the interactive Forest and was delighted to be told that I would be credited!

As I’ve been really busy since I returned back from my holidays, I’ve not had the chance to visit the Quad and look at the final exhibition. I definitely  going to visit in the next two weeks as I’m really quite excited about it all!!

Please see the artwork I submitted, each element had to be individual, hence thats why the artwork is a little  random!

Do hope you like them……?

Derby Feste 09

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Unfortunately we just missed the main artists-the marshmallow people,in other words

Compagnie des Quidams et d’inko’Nito-Reves d’herbert- www.derbyfeste.com

We managed to have a drink at the beer tent and listen to the country dancing music in the square

and wander around the Quad.

Out side the Quad they had moving projected illustrations that were displayed on to a white van, the floor around the Quad and on to the buildings next door -can you believe it’s more than a year since the Quad opened!! this time last year I wouldn’t of thought I’d be doing work for the Quad!

Happy 1st Birthday to the Quad!

26th September – Derby Feste 2008

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Derby Festé 2008 for the opening of the new QUAD centre took place from Friday 26th – Sunday 28th September. The £11 million pound centre for art and design has made a fantastic addition to Derby life.

It was a fantastic evening-which sent shivers down my spine and tears to my eyes and I really had that proud feeling to be an Artistic Derby lass! There was an spectacular display of 3 acts that evening, there were as follows:

The Giants of Derby awaken – when characters from Derby’s past, portrayed by local people mingled with the crowds on the Market Place. This event was funded as part of a Heritage Lottery project.

Quad Derby-Outside giantsGiants-Derby Quad

Sarruga – a Spanish street art company brought us ‘An invasion of Insects!’ an incredible show (like The Dragons they brought us in 2007)

Heliosphere – Spiralling and spinning and seemingly weightless, an acrobat suspended beneath a helium balloon explored the Market Place, reaching out to hold hands with people in the crowd.
